More photos emerge of PlayStation phone

The tale of the not-yet-announced PlayStation phonecontinued today after Engadget posted photos of a Sony Ericsson slider handset sporting full gaming controls and the Android OS. Sony Ericsson has yet to confirm the existence of such a device, but the photos certainly look like the real thing.

From the outside, the GSM smartphone shares only a passing resemblance to Sony Ericsson's first Andorid handset, theXperia X10. It has the same thin menu controls below the display and black color scheme, though the ends are more rounded. Slide up the face, however, and you'll see the expansive gaming controls, which includes the standard Sony PlayStation controls, plus what appears to be a touchpad in the center. Sony's shoulder controls should sit on one spine and the camera lens and flash are on the device's back side.

Engadget says the PlayStation phone should have a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, a microSD card slot (goodbye Memory Stick!), and the "Gingerbread" version of Android. That's either Android 2.3 or 3.0, depending on whom you talk to.

That's all we can say right now, but with the holidays fast approaching, this thing could get the official unveiling very soon. The New Internet Tablet: JooJoo

By Grace Chng There are only two mainstream touchscreen tablets on sale currently the iPad and the JooJoo. Last week, I had a quick test of the latter when I met Chandra Rathakrishnan, founder and chief executive of Singapore company Fusion Garage and the man behind the JooJoo. The JooJoo resembles the 9.7-inch iPad but is bigger at 12.1 inches. Both have aluminum back. They also share similar features, such as built-in speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack and wireless and Bluetooth capabilities. Like the iPad, content on the JooJoo can be viewed in portrait or landscape mode. The similarities end there. The JooJoo has a bigger screen, as well as an USB port and a camera. The tablet feels nice in the hand but, at l.lkg, it could be too heavy as a handheld. Web pages appear vibrant and brilliant but the 16:9 screen ratio means websites have excess space at the sides when viewed in landscape mode and appear cropped in portrait mode. Rathakrishnan's response to this was that the JooJoo is trying to provide a pixel-accurate representation of the websites. It is Flash-enabled so you can play videos from, say, YouTube. Its 1.6GHz Atom chip and the Nvidia Ion graphics chipset aid in the playback of full-screen high-definition Flash content. One can choose to watch YouTube videos in Flash or as Mpeg files in JooJoo mode. This curious feature begs to be explored further when a review unit is available. The camera allows for video-conferencing and the USB port allows you to connect external storage devices to view photos, movies and documents. To move pages up and down, you swipe the screen with two fingers, swipe upwards to close a webpage and swipe sideways to move pages. The action is smooth. However, you cannot pinch to zoom. There are two keyboard options: a small one for typing short phrases like URLs and a bigger one for regular typing. The Linux-based browser is centered on several pre-set shortcuts to websites like Facebook, YouTube and Google. If you want t key in an URL, you have to open or of the shortcuts and change the address. The battery life is said to be about five hours. Logitech Harmony Google TV App Hits Android Market

The Logitech Harmony for Android application for Google TV is now available free from the Android Market. Users will be able to control their hardware and apps with their voice.

The Logitech Harmony for Android remote control application is now available free from the Android Market, providing Google TV users with another way of controlling their TV content.

Logitech last week began selling its Revue companion box and keyboard controller for Google TV, the search engine's new Android-based Web service that overlays its Chrome Web browser atop users' TV content.


Google TV lets users flit from Web content to TV content using Logitech Revue,Sony Internet TVs and Blu-ray players.


Revue comes with a keyboard controller that communicates with the companion box via Logitech Harmony, the universal remote control technology the company employs in several other remote access devices.


Acknowledging that some users will want a more mobile way of controlling their TV content from a device they're already comfortable with, the company crafted Harmony applications for Apple's iPhone and Android-based smartphones.


These apps let users turn their TVs, set-top boxes and A/V receivers off and on, change channels, and navigate applications and other Google TV content.


While the iPhone app is not ready yet, the Android app certainly is. Users can control Revue from the Harmony for Android app by tapping buttons on their smartphone or by speaking into it using the phone's voice search capabilities.


At the Logitech Revue unveiling in New York Oct. 7, Kevin Simon, director of product marketing in the digital home group at Logitech, spoke into his Android phone to call up TV shows on the TV set.


One other neat perk is that the Harmony for Android app lets users "fling" video they are watching on their mobile phone to their TV set for watching on the big screen.
